TASK 2 : SET OF ACTIVITIES

Create a set of worksheets (4 minimum) for A2 level students which must  include: vocabulary, grammar, writing and a game. http://en.islcollective.com/

Level: A2
Language Content:
Asking questions
Auxiliary verb do and its negative - don't
Adjectives for description.

STEP 1. First I would describe someone famous, for example, Angelina Jolie. I would ask the students to guess who I am describing. They can ask questions if they want to find out more information. (Here I would diagnose the knowledge they have of the auxiliary verb do. Then I would show them the picture of Angelina Jolie when someone guesses correctly.

STEP 2. Then we would look at the verb do in questions and positive and negative sentences. The students would complete the following exercise.

STEP 3. Then we would look at adjectives to describe appearance, personality, shapes, taste, sound etc. Using this sheet I would get the students to write a short paragraph describing 3 people/objects/things. After this, the students work in pairs and have to guess what they partner has written about based on the description.
STEP 4. To practise the language further the students would play a game of guess who using the following sheet. It is worth pre-teaching some vocabulary here such as beard, pigtails, ponytail, hairband, glasses and eye patch. We would also need to look at the language needed to play a game (please find below in step 5)
STEP 5. This sheet would be given to the students BEFORE the play guess who so that they understand how to be and to do questions are formed and also for the "board game vocabulary". It is important that the teacher promotes the use of real English making sure the students are saying "Whose turn is it?" instead of  "¿A quién le toca?". It is imperative that this language is taught if we want our students to use English in a real situation.
STEP 6. The following sheet would be for homework. It is a creative writing exercise where the students have to make up what this girl is like, her hobbies, likes/dislikes, family etc.
